Too often we pass over little nuggets of insight, thinking they’re inconsequential or just too damn simple, so we charge on to a “bigger” and “better” idea. “It’s too obvious, this can’t be it….” we cry.

So it was great to read about this idea. Ad agency planners, working for Russian book store chain, 100,000 books, noticed that most people like to read when sat on the toilet. If there’s no book, then quite often the air  freshener is picked up and read. And so sparked the idea of Book Fresheners.

Snippets of top selling books were put on air freshener cans and sold in shops, household stores, business centres etc.

So successful were the Book Fresheners, that the business saw a 23% increase in traffic to its outlets in the month following their release.

Throughout history, many a great idea has been spawned from the comfort of a throne’s warm seat. What’s yours?
